Agency(New Delhi): The 20th installment of the National Good Governance Webinar Series for the year 2023-24 took place on January 31, 2024, with a theme centered around “Promoting Excellence in Sports and Wellness through the Khelo India Scheme.” This webinar served as a platform to highlight and discuss the remarkable initiatives undertaken by two districts, Churu in Rajasthan and Bishnupur in Manipur, both of which were honored with the prestigious PM’s Award in 2021 for their outstanding efforts.
Shri Sidharth Sihag, the then District Collector of Churu, Rajasthan, and presently serving as the Joint Secretary to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, shared the impressive initiatives implemented under the Khelo India Scheme in District Churu. These initiatives not only contributed to the well-being of the local community but also earned recognition at the national level.
Shri Lourembam Bikram, the District Collector of Bishnupur, Manipur, presented the initiatives carried out in District Bishnupur under the Khelo India Scheme. These efforts led to positive outcomes and were acknowledged with the PM’s Award for Excellence in 2021.
The webinar was chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG). This prestigious event saw the participation of Joint Secretaries and senior officers from the Department, further enhancing its significance.
The 20th National Good Governance Webinar witnessed active participation from 559 locations across India. Attendees included representatives from Administrative Reforms Departments of States and Union Territories, District Collectors, State and District Sports Officers, and officers from Central and State Administrative Training Institutes. This widespread participation reflects the importance of sharing and replicating successful governance initiatives.
The National Good Governance Webinar Series aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision to promote excellence in public administration. It serves as a platform for past award winners of the PM’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration to share their experiences. These insights aim to facilitate greater dissemination and replication of successful practices in governance.
In line with the Prime Minister’s directive, the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) has conducted a total of 20 National Good Governance Webinars, with one held every month since April 2022. These webinars have attracted approximately 1,000 officials from various Line Departments, State Governments, District Collectors, State Administrative Training Institutes, and Central Training Institutes in each session.
The webinar series continues to be a valuable initiative in promoting good governance practices and fostering collaboration among administrative bodies across the nation.
