New Delhi (Aryavarth): On Wednesday, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge directed stinging criticism at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rebuking his administration for escalating spice prices. Kharge posited that citizens who are reeling under the financial burden do not require the Prime Minister’s rhetorical speeches but rather, an effective fulfillment of his governmental duties.
Illustrating his point, Kharge disseminated a chart via Twitter, which juxtaposed the prices of spices from January to July. He commented, “Achche Din, Amrit Kaal, Kartyavya Kaal… every few days the name of the narrative is changed just for marketing. Work never changes! The same ploy of robbing people’s savings in the ‘loot kaal’ by imposing deadly inflation!”
He directly addressed the Prime Minister in his tweet, proclaiming, “@narendramodi ji, the people who are suffering from inflation do not need your ‘vatavya (statements)’ but need you to fulfil your kartavaya (duties)’.
In recent times, the Congress party has been a staunch critic of the Centre concerning the upswing in prices of essential food items, including vegetables. They have been vehement in their demand for immediate measures from the government to mitigate this issue.
In an illustrative gesture last week, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate presented a press conference with a basket filled with tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and green chillies. Emphasizing the impact of the inflation surge, she stated that this basket, valued over Rs 1,070, could serve as a significant gift option in today’s economic climate.
