Agency(New Delhi): During the presentation of the Interim Budget 2024-2025, Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, highlighted the transformative impact of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership and declared that Amrit Kaal should be a period of duty (‘Kartavya Kaal’) to realize the vision of a Developed India (‘Viksit Bharat’).
Key Aspects of the Budget Address:
Amrit Kaal as Kartavya Kaal: The Minister emphasized the commitment to strengthen and expand the economy, ensuring high growth and enabling people to realize their aspirations. She reiterated the Prime Minister’s call for national development with new inspirations and resolutions.
Overcoming Pre-2014 Challenges: Smt. Sitharaman noted that challenges from the pre-2014 era were addressed through effective economic management and good governance, setting India on a path of sustained high growth.
Roadmap for Viksit Bharat: The Minister announced that a detailed roadmap for pursuing ‘Viksit Bharat’ will be presented in the full budget in July.
Reforms in States for Development: Recognizing the need for growth-enabling reforms in states, the Minister announced a ₹75,000 crore fifty-year interest-free loan to support state reforms linked to developmental milestones.
High-Powered Committee on Demographic Changes: A committee will be formed to extensively consider challenges arising from fast population growth and demographic changes, aiming to align these with the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Development of Aspirational Districts and Blocks: The Government is ready to assist states in accelerating the development of aspirational districts and blocks, focusing on generating economic opportunities.
Focus on Eastern India: The Finance Minister underscored the government’s attention on developing the eastern region as a vital driver of India’s growth.
