Ahmedabad: Amid disruptions caused by the escalating West Asia conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, a flight from Dubai landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday, offering relief to Indian passengers who had been stranded due to widespread flight cancellations and delays.
Flight operations across several West Asian routes were disrupted in recent days after temporary airspace closures linked to rising regional tensions. However, coordinated efforts by airport authorities and airline officials have helped resume services gradually, allowing stranded passengers to return home.
In addition to Ahmedabad, special flights from Dubai also arrived safely on Wednesday at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, Chennai International Airport in Chennai, and airports in Hyderabad. The resumption of flights has brought relief to thousands of Indian nationals waiting to return from the Gulf region.
Santosh Kumar, a passenger who landed in Chennai after being stranded in Dubai, said the situation was managed well despite the delays.
“I had gone to Dubai for some work when the unfortunate turn of events occurred. We were stuck there, but we didn’t face many difficulties. The Dubai government and people were very helpful. They ensured our safety and security. Although my stay was extended by a few days, everything was well managed,” he told.
Indian diplomatic missions across the Gulf have also stepped up assistance for affected travellers. The Embassy of India in Kuwait City confirmed it is actively supporting Indian passengers stranded due to temporary airspace closures.
In a post on X, the embassy said it remains “fully engaged” with local authorities, airlines, and hotels to assist passengers and ensure their safety until normal flight operations resume.
Authorities and airlines continue to closely monitor the evolving situation in the Gulf region. With safety assessments underway, flight operations are gradually returning to normal, bringing relief to thousands of Indians eager to return home. ✈️
