Agency (Bengaluru): Amidst a crisis in Bengaluru, the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has banned the use of water for gardening, car washing, and fountains. A fine of Rs 5,000 has also been levied for any violations. In accordance with sections 33 and 34 of the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Act of 1964, prohibitory orders were issued on Thursday. In addition, the directive forbids using water for recreational fountains, road washing, other cleaning tasks, mall and movie theater water usage, and construction-related activities. According to the BWSSB, the floating population of Bengaluru contributes to the city’s 1.40 crore population.
“We have to give them everyone access to drinking water. The city is experiencing increasing temperatures, and the groundwater levels have decreased as a result of insufficient rainfall. The public is advised to use water sparingly and not to squander it.
In the event that any violations are discovered, the BWSSB has asked the public to report them to the phone center.
