Agency(Bengaluru): Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party in Karnataka are spotlighting the success of Vedant Navi, a Class 12 board exam topper, as a testament to the effectiveness of their social welfare schemes. Gandhi used this example to bolster the case for the Mahalakshmi Yojana, which aims to provide financial support to women across India.
Vedant, who achieved the first rank in the Arts stream and second overall in the state, credited the Gruha Lakshmi scheme for supporting his education through financial hardships. This scheme grants Rs 2,000 monthly to women heads of households, which Vedant’s mother used to fund his studies and hostel expenses after the death of his father left the family in debt.
The Congress leader took to social media to emphasize how such initiatives can transform lives, suggesting that the Mahalakshmi Yojana’s broader application could produce many more success stories like Vedant’s by giving poor families a substantial yearly stipend.
The Karnataka Congress hailed the swift and positive changes brought about by their government’s policies, presenting Vedant’s achievement as proof of their impact on societal and economic levels. This narrative aligns with their campaign to illustrate the practical benefits of their governance ahead of broader electoral contests.
