Imphal: The Manipur Police is continuing its search and seizure operation in the firing and vulnerable areas of the state in an effort to ensure peace.
Search operations and area dominance were conducted by security forces. The operations have led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
According to a post on X by Manipur Police, in one operation in Tekcham Maning Ching, Thoubal District, the following items were recovered: one 7.62mm SLR along with empty magazine, two SMG carbine along with two magazines, one.32 Pistol along with empty magazine, one 9mm Pistol along with empty magazine, one 51mm Para Bomb, four HE-36 hand grenades without detonator, two Tube Launchers, two electronic detonators, five STARDYNE-90 explosive weighing 125 gm each, twelve live ammunition rounds, one Stun grenade, one Stinger grenade, two 38 mm rubber bullets, three tear smoke shells, one Dummy shell, one Stun shell, two soft nose tear smoke shells, one tear smoke shell, and one Baofeng set. The operation was conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police.
In an operation in Nalon, Churachandpur District, two large, heavy-calibre country-made mortars, two No. 80 Grenades, were seized in an operation by the Army, BSF, and Manipur Police.
In Haraothel and Lambung Hill Top, Kangpokpi District, one local-made improvised projectile launcher of approx. 2.5 meters along with a tripod, eleven unused bombs, and ten empty cases were seized by Manipur Police and CRPF.
In Suangdai (Tuikui Muallum) village Churachandpur District, one 9mm pistol (country-made), one single barrel gun, Myanmar currency (6200 kyat), one BP jacket, one camouflage pant, and one camouflage shirt were recovered by Manipur Police and Assam Rifles.
In Salam Patong village under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, Thoubal District, one IED was recovered by Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, security forces also conducted search operations and Naka-checking in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. According to a post by Manipur Police, movement of 95 and 303 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively, with essential items, was ensured.
Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations, and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles. A total of 109 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley.
