Lucknow: Divulging details on the murder of a Flipkart delivery agent by customers over a phone, DCP East, Shashank Singh, said that the accused lured the delivery agent into their house and strangled him with a laptop charger. He said that they stuffed his body in the Flipkart bag and dumped it into a canal.
DCP East, Shashank Singh said, “We brought in Akash Sharma, and when he was seriously questioned, he said that he and his friend Gajanan Sharma ordered phones from their other friend Himanshu’s phone. They ordered two phones, one Vivo V40 Pro and one Google Pixel 7 Pro. The total cost of the two phones was Rs 90000, which were ordered on Cash on Delivery. They decided to keep the two phones without paying the amount to the delivery boy. They lured the delivery agent into their house and strangled him with a laptop charger. They stuffed his body in the Flipkart bag and dumped it into a canal. Akash Sharma has been arrested and confessed to the crime.”
Singh said that the crime team and other teams were investigating the case.
Singh further said that “A Flipkart delivery agent, Bharat Kumar, was reported missing on 26 September by a Flipkart representative, Adarsh Koshtha, in PS Chinhat. The movement of the delivery agent, his last location, the number of orders delivered, and the number of orders yet to be delivered were found to be suspicious. We asked the company to provide us with his details… We started investigating and questioning people.”
He further said that efforts were on to search the dead body.
“The two phones that were ordered have also been recovered… Efforts are on to search for the dead body. We are in constant touch with NDRF, SDRF, and local divers. Gajanan Sharma would be arrested soon. The delivery agent’s motorcycle has been recovered. The helmet of Akash has also been recovered. Akash and Gajanan both stay in Chinhat. Akash works on carpentry, and Gajanan handles plywood work. They are close friends,” he added.
He further said that after the murder, Gajanan tried to complete the remaining deliveries so that no one would be able to suspect them.
Bharat’s brother Prem Kumar has sought justice for his death and demanded that strict punishment should be meted out to the accused.
“My only demand is that the police should give such a punishment that serves as a lesson to them,” he said.
