The Aryavarth Express
Chennai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. Annamalai on Wednesday accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu of being involved in a massive ₹888 crore cash-for-jobs scam, alleging widespread corruption in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department.

In a post on X, Annamalai claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had uncovered a “deep-rooted and systemic corruption network” involving the sale of 2,538 government posts for alleged bribes of ₹35 lakh each. According to him, the scam deprived thousands of deserving candidates of employment opportunities.

“The DMK government under @mkstalin has become synonymous with one scam after another. The ED has flagged yet another massive corruption scandal — a brazen cash-for-jobs scam involving 2,538 posts in the MAWS Department, with bribes of ₹35 lakh per post. Out of 1.12 lakh applicants, thousands of hardworking youths were denied opportunities because they couldn’t afford the bribe,” Annamalai wrote.

He further alleged that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin distributed appointment letters to these candidates on August 6, 2025, while “posing for photographs celebrating job creation,” despite the recruitment process being tainted by corruption.

Annamalai also claimed that the scam was linked to Tamil Nadu Minister K.N. Nehru’s brother, N. Ravichandran, and his True Value Homes (TVH) Group, which were reportedly under investigation in connection with a bank fraud case.

“The ED’s findings point to a large-scale corruption network involving hawala transactions and money laundering. This is not an isolated incident but part of a disturbing pattern of systemic corruption under Thiru @mkstalin’s governance,” Annamalai alleged, calling for a CBI investigation monitored by the judiciary.

The BJP leader demanded accountability from the Chief Minister and his cabinet, asserting that “those responsible for auctioning government jobs and looting public resources” must be held to account.

Earlier, Annamalai welcomed the Supreme Court’s order directing a CBI probe into the Karur stampede, which occurred during actor and TVK chief Vijay’s rally on September 27, claiming 41 lives and leaving several others injured.
