The Aryavarth Express:
Uttarpradesh, April’14: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that incidents of vandalism targeting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statues have increased significantly during the BJP’s decade-long rule at the Centre. His remarks come amid renewed political tensions over the issue of Dalit rights and social justice.
Speaking to the media, Yadav accused the BJP government of failing to protect symbols of social equality and constitutional values. He claimed that the highest number of such incidents have been reported in the past 10 years, raising serious concerns about law and order and the safety of monuments dedicated to the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Yadav further stated that these acts reflect a deeper disregard for the ideals upheld by Dr. Ambedkar, particularly at a time when the nation is striving for inclusivity and equality. He urged the government to take stricter action against those responsible and ensure better protection of public memorials.
The BJP, however, has not yet issued a detailed response to these allegations. Political observers note that the issue is likely to intensify debates around caste dynamics and governance, especially with upcoming electoral considerations.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar remains a towering figure in Indian history, revered for his role in drafting the Constitution and championing the rights of marginalized communities. Any attack on his statues often triggers strong reactions across the political and social spectrum.
The matter is expected to gain further traction as leaders from various parties weigh in, potentially making it a key point of contention in the ongoing political discourse.
