New Delhi (Agency): As the upcoming Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh draw near, a recent ABP-CVoter Opinion Poll has shed light on a potential hurdle for the Congress party in its bid to dethrone the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. The survey, conducted between May 26 and June 26, encompassed all 230 Assembly seats and gathered responses from 17,113 individuals, revealing the impact that the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) participation could have on the grand old party.
According to the survey findings, 41.5 percent of respondents believe that if AAP contests the Assembly elections, the Congress is likely to suffer losses in Madhya Pradesh. In contrast, 38.7 percent of respondents believe that AAP’s presence might not dent Congress’ fortunes, while 19.9 percent chose not to comment on the matter.
Delving into the perspectives of Congress supporters, 51 percent of respondents expressed the belief that AAP’s participation in the polls would have minimal impact on the party’s prospects. However, 33.5 percent of Congress supporters voiced concerns that the grand old party could face setbacks if Arvind Kejriwal’s party enters the electoral arena in the state. A segment comprising 15.5 percent of Congress supporters remained undecided or refrained from expressing their views.
Notably, among Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters, 48.8 percent believe that AAP’s entry in Madhya Pradesh could dent Congress’ chances, while 29 percent hold an opposing view. With the state’s 230-member House set to go to the polls later this year, the Congress aims to stage a comeback and oust the ruling BJP from power.
The survey results underscore the concerns and speculations surrounding AAP’s potential impact on Madhya Pradesh’s political landscape. As political parties gear up for the crucial electoral battle, AAP’s entry introduces an element of uncertainty, with supporters and analysts closely monitoring the dynamics that may unfold in the run-up to the polls.
While the survey provides insights into public perception, the final outcome will ultimately depend on various factors such as campaign strategies, candidate selection, and the ability of political parties to connect with voters on key issues. As the electoral contest intensifies, both the Congress and AAP will be vying for support from the electorate, leaving voters with crucial decisions to make come election day.
