Jaipur (Agency): The family members of a 20-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Bikaner, have taken a stand, refusing to accept her body until the accused are promptly arrested. This development highlights the family’s demand for justice and a swift resolution to the heinous crime, which has shaken the local community.
According to officials, three individuals, including two police constables, have been accused of the rape. On Wednesday, the victim’s family refused to give consent for a post-mortem examination and staged a protest outside the police station. Eventually, they allowed the post-mortem to proceed after receiving assurances from authorities. These assurances included the investigation of the case by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), a compensation of Rs 10 lakh from the state government, Rs 15 lakh from social organizations, and a contractual job for a family member.
However, the family members have continued their protest and refused to accept the victim’s body on Thursday, stressing the importance of apprehending all the accused. Bikaner IG Om Prakash acknowledged the family’s demand and stated that police officials were engaging in discussions with them at the hospital, urging them to accept the body. The victim’s body remains in the hospital’s mortuary as the situation unfolds.
The incident unfolded when the woman’s body was discovered within the jurisdiction of Khajuwala police station on Tuesday. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged, and the family members named three individuals as the accused, including two police constables named Bhagirath and Manoj from Khajuwala Police Station. While the two constables have been suspended, the search for the main accused, Dinesh Vishnoi, who is currently on the run, is underway. The role of the suspended constables in the incident is being carefully examined by the police.
The refusal of the victim’s family to accept her body reflects their determination to seek justice and hold the perpetrators accountable. The case has triggered outrage and demands for stringent action against the accused. As the authorities continue their efforts to bring all the culprits to justice, it is essential to ensure a thorough investigation, a fair legal process, and the provision of necessary support to the victim’s family during this challenging time. The case serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address and combat crimes against women in society.
