Hyderabad (Telangana): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Hyderabad received a bomb threat via email claiming that 14 RDX explosives had been planted inside the building, prompting an immediate security response from authorities.
According to police, IMD officials quickly informed the authorities after receiving the threatening email. As a precaution, employees were evacuated from the premises to a safe location while police teams launched a search operation.
A police official from Begumpet said that bomb disposal and dog squads were deployed to thoroughly inspect the IMD office. “A bomb threat mail was received by the Indian Meteorological Department office in Begumpet. After being informed, the bomb squad and dog squad reached the spot and conducted a detailed search. Nothing suspicious was found,” the official said.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation to trace the source of the email. Further details are awaited.
In a separate incident on February 26, the Warangal District Court in Warangal also received a bomb threat through email, triggering another security alert.
According to Subedari Station Inspector Ranjit Kumar, police teams along with bomb disposal units carried out a thorough search of the court premises after receiving the information. However, no suspicious objects were discovered.
“Warangal District Court received a bomb threat email today. After receiving the information, police and the bomb disposal team reached the court premises and conducted a complete inspection. Nothing suspicious was found,” Kumar said.
Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered in the matter and investigations are ongoing, though the situation remains calm.
