New Delhi — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday arrived at a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party meeting in Parliament, where leaders of the alliance are set to honour him in recognition of India’s recent trade breakthrough with the United States.
Upon his arrival at the meeting venue, NDA members greeted Modi and presented him with a large garland, marking a show of support and appreciation from senior coalition leaders.
The felicitation comes in the wake of a major India‑US trade agreement announced on Monday, under which tariffs on Indian goods entering the United States have been significantly reduced to 18 per cent — a move welcomed by New Delhi as a boost to bilateral economic cooperation and exports.
The bilateral deal, highlighted by US President Donald Trump’s announcement, reflects a thaw in trade tensions that had weighed on commercial ties, and is expected to enhance market access for Indian products while strengthening overall economic engagement between the two countries.
At the parliamentary meeting, NDA leaders are also expected to discuss broader political priorities and strategy ahead of forthcoming legislative sessions, with Modi reaffirming the government’s focus on economic growth and national development.
