New Delhi – In a major diplomatic initiative aimed at countering Pakistan’s narrative on international platforms, India is sending all-party parliamentary delegations to over 25 countries, including current and upcoming members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The move is part of a coordinated outreach to present a united front against terrorism and strengthen India’s global diplomatic position.

At a high-level briefing on Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized the urgency of this outreach, stating that it is crucial for the international community to hear a unified Indian voice condemning terrorism. “We want to send a clear message that India stands united against terrorism,” he said.

Aparajita Sarangi, a member of one of the delegations, explained the strategic importance of the countries selected. “Apart from current UNSC members, we are also targeting five nations that will join the Council soon. These are influential countries whose opinions carry weight at the global level,” she said. Sarangi added that as Pakistan takes up its seat on the UNSC for the next 17 months, it will likely push anti-India narratives. “Our government rightly decided that MPs from different parties should visit these countries and present India’s perspective to their governments and bureaucracies,” she said.

JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha highlighted Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. “Evidence points to Pakistan-sponsored training camps behind the incident. In response, India took strong action and hit nine terrorist training centres,” Jha said. He also cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong warning to Pakistan, stating, “The PM made it clear — enough is enough. We know your tactics, and we will strike deep inside in self-defence.”

The delegations, formed in the wake of Operation Sindoor and continued threats from cross-border terrorism, are composed of members from multiple political parties. Leaders include Shashi Tharoor (Congress), Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda (BJP), Sanjay Kumar Jha (JD-U), Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK), and Supriya Sule (NCP-SP).

Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde confirmed that members from his group, along with those led by Kanimozhi and Sanjay Kumar Jha, attended Tuesday’s detailed briefing on the mission.

This diplomatic campaign is seen as a proactive step to ensure India’s security concerns, especially regarding terrorism, are understood and supported by key international stakeholders.
