Panaji: IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory for passengers flying to or from Goa, cautioning that ongoing heavy rainfall may disrupt flight operations. The airline warned of potential delays and cancellations due to inclement weather.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo said:
“#6ETravelAdvisory: #Goa is experiencing rain, which may affect flight operations. Stay updated on your flight status via bit.ly/3ZWAQXd for the latest information.”
The advisory urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to plan for additional travel time, as adverse weather could also impact local traffic conditions.
“Owing to inclement weather and rainfall in Goa, flight operations may be subject to delays or disruptions,” the airline said, assuring travellers that its customer service teams are available to provide assistance throughout their journey.
“We strongly recommend that all customers check the latest flight status prior to leaving for the airport and allocate additional travel time,” the advisory stated. “Our teams remain accessible across all customer service touchpoints and are committed to assisting you at every step of your journey.”
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 30–40 km/h in parts of North and South Goa.
IMD Goa station in-charge, N.P. Kulkarni, said an orange warning is in effect for two days, after which it will be downgraded to a yellow warning. “Today and tomorrow, we are expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall,” he noted. “We received around 70 mm of rain in South Goa yesterday and the day before. These are typical signs of pre-monsoon activity.”
Travellers are advised to stay alert to weather updates and flight status notifications, as the region continues to experience intense pre-monsoon conditions.
