New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed that it has successfully completed its assigned tasks under Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the May 7 terror attack in Pahalgam. However, the IAF clarified that operations are still ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation and refrain from spreading unverified information.
In an official statement on its ‘X’ handle, the IAF said the missions were carried out with “precision and professionalism,” in line with national objectives, and that a detailed briefing will be provided at an appropriate time.
Operation Sindoor involved strikes on nine strategic locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), escalating tensions between the two nations and triggering intense cross-border shelling and retaliatory strikes.
Amid heightened tensions, both sides agreed to a cessation of hostilities on May 10, an announcement confirmed by U.S. President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri later stated that the ceasefire agreement came after talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries. The truce, covering land, sea, and air operations, took effect at 5:00 PM IST.
Despite the ceasefire, violations were reported on Saturday night in Srinagar, Jammu, Kathua, and Nagrota. Explosions and red flares were observed as Indian air defence systems responded to suspected Pakistani drones in Udhampur. Blackouts were also enforced in border areas including Pathankot, Ferozepur (Punjab), and Jaisalmer, Barmer (Rajasthan).
A second round of DGMO-level talks is scheduled for May 12 at noon to ensure the ceasefire holds.
