Agency (Ayodhya, Lakshadweep): According to MakeMyTrip’s summer travel trends, Ayodhya, Lakshadweep, and Nandi Hills are among the domestic destinations with the highest growth in searches this summer, while Goa continues to be the most-searched destination. These trends were released on Wednesday and highlight the travel preferences of Indian travelers by comparing data from March-April 2024 with the same period last year.
Puri and Varanasi have emerged as the most-searched pilgrimage destinations, with Ayodhya also showing significant growth in search volumes. This indicates a rising interest in religious and cultural tourism among Indian travelers.
Internationally, Baku, Almaty, and Nagoya are the destinations recording the highest growth in searches. Additionally, Luxembourg, Langkawi, and Antalya are gaining popularity among travelers, showcasing a diverse interest in international travel locations.
The family travel segment has seen a 20 percent increase compared to summer 2023, indicating a strong preference for family vacations. Solo travel has also grown by 10 percent during the same period, reflecting a trend towards individual explorations.
The data also reveals that tariffs ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 7,000 per night account for around 45 percent of all homestay bookings, suggesting that travelers are opting for mid-range accommodation options.
MakeMyTrip Co-Founder and Group CEO Rajesh Magow stated, “Summer is always one of the biggest quarters of the year in terms of travel intent, and this year too, the buoyancy in the sector continues. We are observing a healthy growth in searches over those recorded last year at this time.”
The travel trends indicate a robust interest in both domestic and international destinations, with significant growth in various travel segments, showcasing a vibrant and dynamic travel sector in India this summer.
