Agency(New Delhi): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking in a recent event, announced that India has been the fastest growing economy over the past three financial years, a trend that she believes will persist into the foreseeable future.
During a dialogue with industry leaders and entrepreneurs, Sitharaman expressed optimism about India’s economic trajectory. “India has been the fastest growing economy in the last three consecutive financial years, and this growth can continue in the coming years as well. The next 25 years will be very critical for India,” she remarked.
For the current financial year, 2023-24, India has already recorded an eight percent growth rate across the first three quarters, with expectations to maintain this momentum in the fourth quarter. This growth, she emphasized, is sustainable.
Sitharaman attributed this robust economic performance to several factors that are drawing foreign investors to India. “Due to the economic policy, larger macroeconomic stability, stable government, stable taxation policy, transparent tenders and procurement, there has been immense credibility of India’s economy abroad. So, the investors are coming here to invest,” she explained.
These comments were made as part of her efforts to reassure both domestic and international investors about the stability and growth prospects of India’s economy.
