Agency (Bengaluru): Recognizing the transformative power of education in shaping the future of the nation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a comprehensive plan to redefine the education ecosystem under its “Modi ki Guarantee for Quality Education” as part of its election manifesto.
Building on the impressive progress made over the past decade, which saw the establishment of 7 IITs, 16 IIITs, 7 IIMs, 15 AIIMS, 315 medical colleges, and 390 universities, the BJP pledges to further strengthen this network of higher education institutions. The party aims to set up more such institutes of excellence across the country, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all.
To leverage the power of technology in education, the manifesto promises to promote the use of digital learning platforms like SWAYAM and SWAYAM Prabha, which offer a wide range of online courses and educational resources. The BJP also aims to establish a digital university that provides industry-focused, free upskilling opportunities for youth from low-income families, bridging the digital divide and enhancing employability.
Recognizing the importance of school education in laying a strong foundation for the future, the BJP pledges to strengthen the network of PM SHRI Schools, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and other model schools as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The party aims to make these schools world-class centers of learning, equipped with modern infrastructure, qualified teachers, and innovative pedagogy.
To ensure that the education system keeps pace with the rapidly changing world, the manifesto promises to adopt a dynamic learning curriculum at the school level, as mandated by the NEP. The party also aims to incorporate industry-aligned content and skill development modules in higher education, preparing students for the jobs of the future.
The BJP also pledges to work towards achieving a 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) from pre-primary to secondary level, ensuring that no child is left behind in the education journey. To facilitate seamless tracking of student progress and achievements, the party aims to implement the “One Nation, One Student ID” system through the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR).
Recognizing the importance of vocational education and skill development in enhancing employability, the manifesto promises to further strengthen the skill ecosystem and integrate it with the mainstream education system, as envisioned in the NEP. The BJP aims to work closely with industry partners to design and deliver skill development programs that are relevant, hands-on, and aligned with the evolving needs of the job market.
Other key initiatives include the upgradation of existing higher education institutions through dedicated grants and capacity-building programs; the promotion of research and innovation through the establishment of research parks and incubation centers; the emphasis on value-based education and character-building; and the internationalization of higher education through collaborations with global institutions.
