Agency (Bengaluru): Recognizing the importance of good governance in building a strong, prosperous, and inclusive India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a comprehensive plan under its “Modi Ki Guarantee for Good Governance” as part of its election manifesto.
The party pledges to continue its zero-tolerance approach towards corruption, building on the successful initiatives of the past decade, such as the demonetization of high-value currency notes, the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and the strengthening of anti-corruption laws. The BJP aims to leverage technology, data analytics, and citizen participation to enhance transparency and accountability in governance.
One of the key promises in the manifesto is the enactment of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which the BJP believes is essential for ensuring gender equality and protecting the rights of women. The party aims to draw upon the best traditions and practices from different communities to create a modern, progressive, and harmonious legal framework for personal laws.
The BJP also pledges to introduce a range of electoral reforms to enhance the integrity and efficiency of the democratic process. These include the implementation of a common electoral roll for all levels of elections, the introduction of simultaneous elections for Parliament, state assemblies, and local bodies, and the strengthening of the Election Commission’s powers to curb malpractices and ensure free and fair elections.
Recognizing the need to streamline judicial processes and reduce pendency of cases, the manifesto promises to formulate a National Litigation Policy to expedite the resolution of disputes, lower the cost of legal proceedings, and reduce the burden on the courts. The BJP also aims to initiate comprehensive reforms in civil and commercial laws to enhance the ease of doing business and protect the interests of citizens.
To improve the delivery of public services, the BJP proposes to leverage the extensive network of Common Service Centers (CSCs) and post offices, using technology to provide hassle-free and efficient services to citizens. The party also aims to enhance the accessibility of government services by providing them in multiple Indian languages through the Bhashini platform.
Other key initiatives include the expansion of the Karmayogi capacity-building scheme to cover all central government employees, the modernization of police forces through the Police Modernization Scheme, the facilitation of fiscal autonomy for Panchayati Raj institutions, the acceleration of the e-Courts Mission Mode Project for digitization of court records, the expediting of case resolution through fast-track courts, the promotion of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and the strengthening of statistical institutions for data-driven policy making.
