Agency (Bengaluru): Charting a roadmap for India’s economic resurgence and global leadership, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a comprehensive set of initiatives under its “Modi ki Guarantee for Prosperous Bharat” as part of its election manifesto.
The party pledges to catapult India to the position of the world’s third-largest economy within the next decade, building on the impressive progress made over the past ten years, which saw the country rise from the 11th to the 5th largest economic power. The BJP aims to achieve this ambitious target through a combination of policy reforms, investment promotion, infrastructure development, and technological innovation.
Recognizing the importance of macroeconomic stability, the manifesto promises to sustain the BJP’s track record of low inflation, high growth, and fiscal prudence. The party aims to maintain this delicate balance by adhering to responsible economic management, encouraging private investment, and ensuring efficient allocation of public resources.
Job creation remains a key focus area for the BJP, with the manifesto pledging to expand employment opportunities across various sectors. The party aims to leverage its successful initiatives like Make in India, Production Linked Incentives (PLI), and Skill India to create a conducive ecosystem for businesses to thrive and generate large-scale employment. The BJP also promises to support the growth of the services sector, particularly tourism, as a major engine of job creation.
The manifesto also highlights the BJP’s vision of positioning India as a trusted partner in global value chains. The party aims to achieve this by developing India as a global manufacturing hub, leveraging its competitive advantages in terms of skilled labor, favorable demographics, and a large domestic market. The BJP proposes to simplify regulatory processes, invest in world-class infrastructure, attract foreign capital, and foster innovation to make India an attractive destination for global manufacturers.
To support India’s export growth and enhance its global competitiveness, the manifesto promises to promote international cooperation, develop export-oriented infrastructure, and simplify trade-related laws and procedures. The party also aims to work with state governments to create a conducive environment for exporters, particularly in labor-intensive sectors like textiles, footwear, and handicrafts.
Recognizing the need for a modern and efficient legal framework to support economic growth, the BJP pledges to launch a comprehensive review of India’s economic and commercial laws. The party aims to align these laws with the changing realities of the global economy and ensure they facilitate ease of doing business, protect intellectual property rights, and promote fair competition.
The manifesto also emphasizes the BJP’s commitment to honoring honest taxpayers, who have played a crucial role in strengthening India’s economy. The party aims to simplify tax procedures, reduce compliance burdens, and provide a stable and predictable tax regime to encourage voluntary compliance and boost investor confidence.
Other key initiatives include promoting financial inclusion through the expansion of digital payment systems, fostering the growth of startups and SMEs through targeted support measures, developing India as a global hub for research and innovation, and leveraging the potential of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things to drive economic growth and social progress.
