Agency(New Delhi): Congress leader Sachin Pilot criticized the BJP government on Tuesday for resorting to religious politics, which he argues undermines the democracy of India. He urged the public to back the Congress party as a means to safeguard democratic values.
During his speeches at public gatherings to support Congress candidates Murari Lal Meena in Dausa and Sanjana Jatav in Bharatpur, Pilot claimed that the BJP diverts attention to religious topics whenever they are unable to address developmental issues. “While Rahul Gandhi strives to unite the nation with the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, the BJP continues to rely on mere rhetoric,” he stated.
Pilot also accused the BJP of attempting to silence the opposition by suspending 147 members from Parliament. He highlighted the economic challenges facing the country, such as the rising petrol prices exceeding Rs 100, escalating inflation, and increasing unemployment rates under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
Furthermore, Pilot criticized BJP leaders for their goal to create a Congress-free India, noting that the Congress has never aimed to eliminate the BJP in the same manner. He expressed concerns over the misuse of constitutional agencies against those who oppose the BJP, emphasizing that this misuse questions the integrity of constitutional institutions and weakens them, thus posing a threat to the democratic framework of the nation.
