Agency(Karnataka): Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, took legal action on Wednesday by filing a police complaint concerning a falsified news report that misrepresented his views. He attributed the creation and distribution of this misleading information to an “unholy alliance” between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)), which he accused of attempting to manipulate public perception through deceit.
The disputed report, presented in Kannada, falsely quoted Siddaramaiah saying, “We don’t need Hindus. Muslim votes are enough,” alongside a sub-heading that suggested his desire to be reborn as a Muslim, aiming to provoke communal unrest. Siddaramaiah vehemently denied these statements and criticized their intent to distort his secular stance while stirring up religious divisions.
The Chief Minister denounced the tactics as indicative of the political desperation and intellectual bankruptcy of his opponents, particularly targeting their integrity in the electoral process. He warned the public to remain vigilant against such manipulative practices that endanger communal harmony and degrade the quality of political discourse.
