Agency(Shimla, Himachal Pradesh): On Saturday, in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, six Congress MLAs, who were previously disqualified, alongside three Independent legislators, voiced their intent to initiate a defamation lawsuit against the state’s Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. They accused him of failing to uphold allegations made against them and declared their plans to publicly reveal his actions.
These Congress MLAs had faced disqualification for their absence during crucial assembly votes on a cut motion and the finance bill, acting against the party’s directive to support the government’s stance. The legislators in question—Rajendra Rana, Ravi Thakur, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Chetanya Sharma, and Devinder Kumar Bhutto, together with Independents KL Thakur, Hoshiyar Singh, and Ashish Sharma—expressed their intention to disclose to the public the mistreatment and neglect they have endured over the past fourteen months, which led to a cessation of developmental initiatives in their areas.
They articulated concerns over Sukhu’s apparent anxiety over losing grip on power, fearing the revelation of his “deeds” should he be ousted. Furthermore, they criticized the government for neglecting the youth and disregarding the Congress party’s manifesto, alleging that preferential treatment is being given to certain individuals despite the state’s financial difficulties.
