Agency(Bengaluru): In a distressing incident in Bengaluru’s central district of Seshadripuram, a 27-year-old Uzbek woman, Zarina DJeparova, was discovered deceased under enigmatic circumstances within her hotel room, prompting police to suspect foul play. The discovery was made late Wednesday night by the hotel staff after the woman failed to respond to calls and had not been seen for an extended period.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Shekhar H Tekkannavar, indicated the likelihood of smothering as the cause of death, noting the absence of visible injuries on DJeparova’s body. The unsettling discovery followed after hotel employees, concerned by her prolonged silence and lack of activity, accessed the room with a master key. They found her unresponsive on the floor, draped in a bedsheet.
Hotel personnel recounted that DJeparova had checked into the hotel around noon on Wednesday, settling her room charges for the day. A ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign was later placed on her door, a standard request that turned into a grim marker of the tragedy that unfolded. Efforts by an agent, responsible for her hotel accommodation, to reach her by phone led to the discovery of her demise.
The Seshadripuram police, alongside forensic experts and a sniffer dog squad, were promptly deployed to the scene, gathering evidence including fingerprints to piece together the events leading to DJeparova’s death. Her body was sent for an autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of death.
Initial investigations revealed that DJeparova had been in Bengaluru since March 5, intending to stay for ten days, possibly on a tourist visa. With her identification documents found within the room, authorities are scrutinizing her travel and stay details for clues. Despite the room showing no signs of disturbance and evidence suggesting she was alone, police theorize that an external party might have infiltrated the room to commit the crime.
This case has sparked an intense investigation, as authorities work to unravel the circumstances of DJeparova’s death and identify the perpetrator behind this heinous act. The incident has cast a shadow over the safety of tourists in the city, with police committed to ensuring justice for the victim.
