Agency(New Delhi): Following President Emmanuel Macron’s January 2024 visit to Jaipur, the French Embassy’s trade commission, Business France India, in partnership with OGAAN-India Design Week, the French Institute in India, and the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce, is set to organize the ‘Art de Vivre à la Française’ exhibition and conference series. This esteemed event will take place on March 21st and 22nd at Bikaner House in New Delhi, a location noted for its heritage significance. The showcase aims to celebrate the rich tradition and innovation in French home decor and furnishings, alongside highlighting fruitful Franco-Indian design and craftsmanship collaborations.
Since its inception in 2008, the ‘Art de Vivre à la Française’ exhibition has graced various global capitals like Tokyo, Berlin, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, New York, Singapore, and now, Delhi. Curated by a dedicated Indo-French team from Business France and GCG Architectes, the exhibition will display France’s significant contributions to the interior design sector, marrying classic styles with cutting-edge technology. Among the over 30 participants, Mobilier National, a revered French public institution known for its stewardship and renewal of state furnishings, will also unveil its contemporary collection during the event.
This exclusive gathering invites sector professionals, including Indian interior designers, importers, distributors, retailers, luxury hotel chains, architecture and design students, real estate developers, and journalists, to engage with prominent French brands. Recognizing India as a pivotal and burgeoning market in the furniture and interior design landscape, the event seeks to build upon centuries of shared design heritage and expertise between the two nations, encouraging future collaborations and shared aesthetic visions.
On March 21st, from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm, the French Institute in India will host ‘Creative Dialogue’ talks, celebrating the shared design narratives and craftsmanship of France and India. Esteemed heritage brands like Féau, Mathieu Lustrerie, and Lesage, along with top French and Indian architects and designers such as Wilmotte & Associés, Morphogenesis, Jean-Louis Deniot, and emerging talents like RoWin Atelier, will partake in these discussions. This forum aims to deepen the cultural and creative ties between France and India, aligned with President Macron’s emphasis on design and arts as strategic areas of collaboration.
