Agency(New Delhi): In the early morning hours of Monday, 11 March, an intense confrontation occurred between members of the infamous ‘thak-thak’ gang and the Noida Police at a local checkpoint, leading to the arrest of two individuals from Delhi, as confirmed by authorities.
During this altercation, one suspect sustained injuries from police gunfire. These individuals were implicated in a recent crime on 9 March, where five vehicles near Amrapali Zodiac society in Sector 120, within the jurisdiction of the Sector 113 Police Station, were vandalized, and valuables were reportedly stolen from inside them, officials disclosed.
Manish Mishra, the Additional DCP (Noida), recounted the events, stating, “In the early hours today, there was a clash between our officers at the Sector 113 police station and the members of this cross-state criminal group.” He further explained that the officers were performing routine checks when they encountered the suspects approaching. Upon signaling the duo to halt for questioning, the suspects responded with gunfire aimed at the officers.
Aman, 28, hailing from Delhi’s Madangir area, was identified as one of the assailants who was wounded during the exchange of gunfire, as per the DCP’s statement. The second suspect was named Abhishek, also 28 and from the same locality. “Both individuals are confirmed associates of this cross-state ‘thak-thak’ gang,” the officer added.
From the apprehended suspects, authorities recovered two laptops reported as stolen, a motorcycle taken from Delhi, and a homemade firearm. “Two days prior, these culprits had successfully stolen items from vehicles parked in Noida by smashing their windows. This crime has now been linked back to them,” Mishra elaborated.
He also mentioned that the suspects had a history of criminal activity, including offenses committed in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram locality and the Punjabi Bagh area of Delhi. Following the altercation, the injured suspect was promptly taken to a medical facility for treatment, and the police are proceeding with further legal action.
Police records reveal that Aman, one of the detainees, is already known to the authorities, with multiple theft charges filed against him at Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh Police Station, underscoring the ongoing challenge faced by law enforcement in curbing the activities of such organized criminal groups.
