Agency( Bengaluru): Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly leveraging the recent Rameshwaram Cafe blast incident in Bengaluru for political advantage, accusing them of marring Karnataka’s reputation for their gains. In a statement from his residence in Sadashivanagar, Shivakumar emphasized the government’s commitment to a thorough investigation, ensuring that law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible.
Shivakumar’s rebuke comes in response to BJP’s remarks labeling the incident as indicative of a shift from ‘brand Bengaluru’ to ‘bomb Bengaluru,’ which he condemned as lacking in basic sense and responsibility. The Deputy CM called for reflection on past incidents during the BJP’s tenure, urging a focus on national unity and peace rather than political point-scoring.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also urged the BJP to refrain from politicizing the situation, noting that incidents of violence had occurred under their watch as well. He highlighted the ongoing serious investigation into the blast and cautioned against premature conclusions or politicization that could undermine the process.
The explosion at the Rameshwaram Cafe, which resulted in injuries to 10 individuals, has prompted an intensive investigation by Karnataka Police, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directing the use of technology and increased police patrols in densely populated areas to ensure public safety.
This clash of narratives between the state government and opposition parties underscores the tension in Karnataka’s political landscape, with both sides interpreting the incident through the lens of their political objectives.
