The BJP in Bihar denounces the state’s liquor ban as a failure, citing incidents like the ‘liquor party’ at Darbhanga Medical College and increasing illegal liquor trade.
Agency(Patna): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar has strongly criticized the Nitish Kumar-led government’s liquor ban, labeling it a complete failure. This criticism follows the circulation of a video showing a ‘liquor party’ held at a guest house of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where a number of doctors had gathered for a conference.
Samrat Choudhary, the President of Bihar’s BJP unit, expressed dismay over the availability of liquor in a hospital, describing it as highly unfortunate. He called for a high-level inquiry and action against those responsible.
Minister of State for Home Nityananad Rai commented on the situation, stating that despite Bihar being a dry state, the reality on the ground is different. He highlighted the involvement of the police in the sale of liquor and pointed out the rise in illegal liquor trade and hooch tragedies.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly added to the criticism, stating that the liquor ban is merely for show, with home delivery of liquor being a common occurrence in the state. He attributed these issues to the failure of Nitish Kumar’s governance.
These statements from various political leaders reflect growing concerns about the effectiveness of the liquor ban in Bihar and the need for more stringent measures to curb illegal activities related to alcohol.
