New Delhi (Agency): Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a special university backed by the Ministry of Railways in India, and Airbus, a global leader in the aerospace sector, have joined hands to boost the aviation industry in India. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an event held at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi. The partnership promises to provide 15,000 job opportunities for students and advance research in aerospace.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and IT, and the first Chancellor of GSV, was present at the signing ceremony. He said that GSV would focus on strong “industry-academia partnerships.” He emphasized that the university’s students “will be industry ready” and highly valuable to the transportation and logistics sectors.
The collaboration comes at a time when Airbus has already joined with Tata to create a C295 aircraft facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. Airbus is known for its commitment to building an aerospace ecosystem in India and considers the country as a key player in global aviation.
Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, spoke at the event. He stated, “The partnership with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will develop a strong pipeline of skilled workforce in the country.” Airbus aims to make a significant contribution to human resource development in India’s fast-growing aerospace sector.
The MoU brings multiple benefits. It will help in co-developing and co-delivering courses and programs that are relevant to the industry. Both regular students and working professionals can benefit from these programs. Faculty members will have opportunities for joint research and gaining industry experience. Students can also look forward to internships, placements, and scholarship programs.
Established in 2022, GSV Vadodara is a unique university focusing solely on the transportation and logistics sectors. The university aims to fulfil the objectives of the National Developmental Plans, such as the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022.
This partnership aligns with India’s broader vision for development in transport and logistics. By providing skilled human resources, educational opportunities, and job placements, the collaboration between GSV and Airbus promises a brighter future for the Indian aerospace sector and its workforce.
