New Delhi (Agency): The Rajasthan government has given the green light for a ₹256.46 crore (approximately $34 million) construction project for a new bridge over the Chambal River in Kota district. The project received approval from Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and is part of a broader infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing road connectivity and reducing travel time for residents.
According to an official statement, the bridge will be built on state highway 120 in Gothra Kalan village. Initially, ₹165 crore (about $22 million) had been set aside for this project in the budget. The additional funding indicates the government’s commitment to the speedy completion and quality of the project.
The bridge is more than just a pathway over water; it’s a lifeline for the local community. “The bridge will enable a shorter travel distance and aid in people’s convenience,” said the official statement. It is anticipated that the new bridge will serve as a catalyst for local business, promote tourism, and improve overall quality of life in the region.
In addition to the bridge, the state government has also approved ₹232.10 crore (roughly $31 million) for 139 road construction projects in 19 different districts. The funds will be distributed among several cities and towns for road development. For example, 21 roads each will be built in Barmer, Jaipur, and Bharatpur. Twenty roads are planned for Jaisalmer, twelve for Nagaur, and smaller numbers for various other districts.
This significant investment in infrastructure is seen as a positive move towards development and job creation. It reflects the government’s focus on improving transportation to bolster economic growth and provide better services to its residents. Given the strategic importance of good road networks for a region’s development, the recent financial approval for these projects is a step in the right direction.
The announcement has been met with optimism among locals who expect the new infrastructure to bring about meaningful change. “Improved roads and a new bridge mean less time spent traveling, and more time for our families and jobs,” one local resident commented.
