New Delhi (Agency): On Thursday, the Gurugram District Administration issued an advisory for corporate offices and private institutions, instructing them to facilitate “work from home” for their employees on September 8, 2023, in anticipation of the G20 Summit in New Delhi.
The advisory stated, “In consideration of the aforementioned facts, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to Work from Home tomorrow on 8th September 2023.”
This advisory from Gurugram’s District Magistrate comes in response to the traffic restrictions imposed on NH-48, which may result in traffic congestion.
The traffic advisory read, “Whereas in wake of G-20 Summit in Delhi, traffic will be regulated on NH-48 on 8th September 2023 which might result in occasional traffic congestion on the roads of Gurugram city. Accordingly, there is a need to exercise caution and minimize travel so that traffic congestion can be avoided.”
Additionally, Delhi Police has intensified security measures along the Yamuna River in an effort to ensure comprehensive security for the mega event. Police personnel are patrolling the Yamuna River using boats, as there are concerns that individuals with malicious intent may attempt to enter the New Delhi area through the river and disrupt the G20 program.
A senior officer from Delhi Police stated that the Yamuna River passes through the New Delhi area, which is close to the Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the G20 event. Therefore, there is a possibility that mischievous elements may try to access the New Delhi area through the Yamuna River. Patrolling is being conducted to enhance security, with Delhi Police personnel using boats to monitor activities along the river.
The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to take place from September 9-10 and will be attended by more than 30 heads of state, top officials from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 heads of international organizations.
