New Delhi (Agency): TIn Patna, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized the Congress party’s top leadership for remaining silent on controversial remarks made about the Hindu faith by some of its leaders and its ally DMK in Tamil Nadu. Prasad questioned whether there was a deliberate effort within the Congress-led coalition INDIA to denigrate Hindus. He accused the coalition of displaying arrogance and failing to consider the sensitivities of India.
Prasad cited examples of remarks made by DMK leaders, including Udayanaidhi Stalin and A Raja, comparing Hinduism to diseases like malaria, dengue, leprosy, and HIV/AIDS. He also pointed out that some Congress members, such as Karnataka’s Home Minister G Parameshwara and Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge, have made derogatory statements about Sanatana Dharma (the Hindu faith).
The BJP leader emphasized that the BJP would not accept denigration of the Hindu faith and expressed bewilderment at the silence of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, whom he referred to as the “movers and shakers” of the party. Prasad invoked a Sanskrit aphorism to underscore that silence can be seen as acceptance.
Additionally, Prasad displayed sheets of paper that he claimed were copies of the original manuscript of the Indian Constitution, which included inscriptions of Hindu deities like Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Hanumana. He urged Sonia Gandhi to gain an understanding of the rich traditions of the country, highlighting that her own grandfather-in-law, Jawahar Lal Nehru, was among the signatories of the Constitution.
Prasad also touched upon the alleged deterioration in law and order in Bihar since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s exit from the NDA coalition, expressing concern about the rise in incidents like murders and chain snatchings in the state’s capital, Patna.
