New Delhi (Agency): President Droupadi Murmu stressed the crucial role of effective corporate governance in ensuring the long-term sustainable growth and inclusive development of the country. She addressed a group of Indian Corporate Law Service probationers from the 2021 and 2022 batches during their visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In her address, President Murmu emphasized that these probationers serve as regulators of the corporate world and hold significant responsibility in shaping the industrial and governance ecosystem of the country. She urged them to maintain integrity while navigating the complex framework of corporate governance.
The president highlighted the significance of good corporate governance in the present context. She stated, “It would be your duty to ensure that companies are managed in the best interests of shareholders and other stakeholders. Through efficient governance models, you must ensure that the corporate entities follow an ethical culture and respect the rights of stakeholders.”
President Murmu further underlined that effective corporate governance is essential not only for the growth of businesses but also for the long-term sustainable development of the nation. She pointed out that various regulations are in place to ensure companies adhere to good corporate governance practices. The president encouraged the probationers to work diligently in enforcing these regulations for the greater benefit of the citizens.
Addressing the group, President Murmu stressed the importance of civil servants working with a sense of responsibility towards the citizens of the country. She highlighted that expertise in the Companies Act and knowledge of financial laws are fundamental for efficient functioning. The president urged them to embody a spirit of service towards the nation and its people.
President Murmu also acknowledged the upcoming G20 Summit, which India will be hosting. She expressed her confidence that the probationers will play a significant role in ensuring the efficient and transparent functioning of India’s corporate sector. The president emphasized that the world is looking towards India and that the probationers must meet the country’s expectations.
