New Delhi (Agency): The Station House Officer (SHO) of Daryaganj police station in New Delhi has withdrawn an order that mandated the closure of offices, shops, and various establishments during the upcoming G20 Summit. The initial order, released on Sunday, called for the closure of government and private offices, shops, commercial establishments, cinema halls, vehicle parking areas, banks, and schools in the specified area.
The order outlined that all these establishments within the jurisdiction of Daryaganj police station were to remain closed from 10 pm on September 7 to 10 pm on September 10 to accommodate the G20 Summit.
However, a subsequent order was issued on Monday by the same SHO, effectively canceling the directive issued on Sunday. The latest order cited administrative reasons for the withdrawal and declared the initial order null and void.
The initial order had caused concern among businesses and residents in the specified area due to the disruption it would have caused to their regular activities. The cancellation of the order now allows for normal business operations and activities to continue without interruption during the G20 Summit period.
In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, the Delhi Police have announced that online delivery services, with the exception of medicines, will be temporarily prohibited in the New Delhi district. This measure aims to ensure security and smooth operations during the international event. Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), SS Yadav, clarified that essential services like postal and medical deliveries will continue without disruption across Delhi. However, commercial activities and online deliveries will be restricted in the New Delhi area. Notably, valid permissions for essential services will be honored.
The senior police officer assured that metro services, apart from the Supreme Court station, will not be adversely affected. While there may be momentary gate closures at certain stations due to VIP movements and security protocols, these instances will not significantly impact metro operations. Furthermore, individuals holding hotel bookings within the New Delhi district and traveling from the airport or railway station will be granted entry, provided they present their boarding passes and booking documents. Although minor delays of 10-15 minutes could occur due to security checks, visitors with valid documents will be permitted entry.
