New Delhi (Agency): Ahead of the end-of-year assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced that it will launch a series of ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatras’ (People’s Blessing Marches) starting in the first week of September. Senior party leaders, including BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will flag off these mass outreach programs.
The announcement was made by a state BJP spokesperson on August 30, 2023. The yatras will travel through different regions of Madhya Pradesh: Vindhya, Mahakaushal, Malwa, Gwalior-Chambal, and Bundelkhand, before finally ending in the state capital, Bhopal.
Nadda is set to launch the first yatra on September 3 from Chitrakoot in the Vindhya region, making its way to Bhopal via Niwari. Amit Shah will flag off the second yatra on September 5 from Mandla, and this procession will reach Bhopal through Jabalpur. On the same day, Shah will also initiate another march from Sheopur, situated in the Gwalior-Chambal region.
Besides them, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari will also take part. Singh will inaugurate a yatra on September 4 from Neemuch in the Malwa region. Gadkari will start a yatra on September 6 from Khandwa under the Indore division.
According to state BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal, all these yatras will conclude in Bhopal on September 25. A “Karyakarta Mahakumbh” (mega gathering of party workers) is planned for the final day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been invited to attend this event.
This mass outreach initiative by the BJP comes as the party aims to strengthen its support base and interact directly with the public before the assembly elections. By organizing yatras that will pass through multiple regions of the state, the BJP hopes to connect with a broad cross-section of the population, thereby enhancing its chances in the upcoming polls.
