New Delhi (Agency):An incident at the local office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Shahjahanpur, UP, took an unexpected turn. A man who was reportedly urinating at the office gate was confronted, leading to an outbreak of violence involving stone-throwing and gunshots, according to police reports. The man and two others have been arrested as a result.
The episode unfolded on Wednesday night when RSS workers approached the man who had urinated at the office gate. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said that an argument ensued involving the man and a few others with him. The argument escalated when about 50 more people joined in.
Ravi Mishra, an RSS office bearer, claimed that the accused began throwing stones and shooting at the office workers, causing minor injuries to three RSS workers. These injured workers were taken to the hospital, received treatment, and have since been discharged.
Following Mishra’s report, an FIR has been filed against 5 identified and 40-50 unidentified individuals. The charges are under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 307, which pertains to an attempt to murder.
Three people, namely Shashank Gupta, Shivank Gupta, and Mukesh Gupta, have been arrested in relation to this incident. The police are also scrutinizing CCTV footage from the incident to identify the other individuals involved.
In response to the incident, the police have created four teams to find and arrest the remaining offenders. There is now a police presence at the RSS office to ensure safety. Superintendent Kumar promised strict action against the perpetrators.
