The Aryavarth Express Kochi (Kerala), April 10: The Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) celebrated its Foundation Day with a grand event at its Kochi campus, which also hosted the South India Finals of the Maria Philip Future Leaders Debate Competition.
The event highlighted XIME ’s continued focus on nurturing future leaders through a blend of academic excellence and strong communication skills. A key attraction was the Maria Philip Future Leaders Debate, named in memory of the late Maria Philip, known for her eloquence and intellectual depth. The intercollegiate competition draws participation from undergraduate students across South India every year.
This edition saw nearly 300 teams from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala competing in zonal rounds, with top performers advancing to the finals. Mr. Darsh Gowda and Ms. Bhoomikha Kiran from Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru, emerged as winners. Mr. Darsh Gowda was also awarded the Best Speaker of the Year title.
During the award ceremony, Mr. Anil J. Philip, President of XIME Society, shared key principles inspired by his father, late Prof. Chevalier J. Philip. He spoke about the “Destiny Point” — the transformative power of irreversible commitment — and the “Pain-Pleasure Principle,” which explains human behavior as a balance between avoiding pain and seeking pleasure. He noted that these ideas continue to guide XIME’s mission of developing committed and self-aware leaders.
The celebrations also featured cultural and intellectual activities, including debates and music competitions, bringing together students from XIME ’s campuses in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Chennai. The event reflected the institute’s emphasis on holistic development alongside academic rigor.
Founded in 1991 by late Prof. Chevalier J. Philip along with a group of academicians and professionals, XIME has grown into one of India’s leading private B-schools. With campuses in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Chennai, the institute is known for its value-based education, strong industry-academia collaboration, and commitment to professional excellence.
Notably, XIME ’s PGDM programme recently received EFMD accreditation for five years, making it the first B-school in India to achieve this recognition. The AICTE-approved programme offers specialisations in Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and Business Analytics, with a common curriculum and centralised admissions and placements across campuses.
