Review Overview

The Aryavarth Express Murshidabad (West Bengal), February 12: Jan Unnayan Party (JUP) chief Humayun Kabir on Monday launched the ‘Babri Yatra’ from Plassey in Nadia district, marking the beginning of a 285-kilometre march that will conclude in Rejinagar, Murshidabad.

Speaking during the launch of the yatra, Kabir said the march coincides with the commencement of work on a proposed mosque to be named ‘Babri Masjid’ in Murshidabad. “The work of Babri Masjid has started, and today the Babri Yatra has also begun. This yatra will conclude after we cover 285 kilometres,” he said.

Kabir stated that construction of the mosque in Beldanga, Murshidabad, has begun and expressed confidence that the structure would be completed within two years. “I am thankful to the Almighty and to all those who are standing with me. In the next two years, I hope the Babri Masjid structure will be completed,” he said.

He also alleged that there was opposition to the mosque’s construction and asserted that prayers would be held regularly at the site once completed. “Until construction is complete, prayers will be offered here every Friday. No one can stop us from offering prayers,” he added.

Earlier in January, Humayun Kabir had announced plans to construct a hospital and a university in the area alongside the mosque. Addressing a three-day event in Murshidabad earlier this month, he said the projects were aimed at benefiting the local population.

Kabir also stated that people from different communities were involved in activities around the construction site. The march and the proposed projects have drawn attention in the region as the yatra proceeds toward its final destination in Rejinagar.
