Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu): Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and actor-turned-politician Vijay on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing him of making “slanderous remarks” in the Tamil Nadu Assembly and engaging in “politics of hatred.”

Speaking at a Special General Committee Meeting in Mahabalipuram, Vijay said, “We have been enduring deep pain and sorrow. In such times, it was our duty to stand by our people, which is why we chose silence. But while we stayed calm, baseless accusations and political hatred were spread against us. We will now sweep all of this away — with the power of law and the strength of truth.”

Taking aim at the Chief Minister, Vijay said, “The CM who often says he has no desire for politics spoke many slanderous things about us in the Assembly. The same leader who preaches magnanimity in words poured out venom in his speech. Do you think the people of Tamil Nadu will fail to see what kind of politics this is?”

Vijay also claimed that his campaign faced restrictions “no other political leader in India has ever faced.” “We were told to stay inside buses, not to wave at people, not even to stand on the roof of the bus. So many constraints were imposed,” he alleged.

Accusing the DMK government of spending “crores of rupees” on high-profile lawyers who “stood helpless before the Supreme Court,” Vijay said, “The Chief Minister, who has made false accusations against us, should answer for this.”

Referring to the Karur incident, he questioned the state’s handling of the inquiry. “After the incident, a one-man inquiry commission was appointed in haste. Yet soon after, top officials addressed the media, undermining the commission itself. Why was this done?” he asked, citing the Supreme Court’s criticism of the government for creating doubt about a fair probe.

Vijay further accused Stalin of being “intoxicated by power,” saying, “Without humanity, ethics, or dignity, the Chief Minister is playing a political game under the guise of morality and compassion.”

Claiming that the public had “completely lost faith” in the DMK government, he warned, “If not already, the people will make the DMK leadership understand this deeply in the 2026 Assembly elections. Start preparing that statement now: ‘We bow to the people’s verdict.’”

Expressing confidence in his party’s rise, Vijay declared, “When nature, God, and the spirit of Tamil people stand with us, who can stop us? These are temporary hurdles. We will overcome them and stand with the people — always.”

Concluding his fiery speech, he asserted, “In 2026, there will be only two contenders — TVK and DMK. This contest will intensify, and victory will be 100% ours. We will make history and wear the crown of success. Have faith — victory is certain.”
