Dehradun (Uttarakhand): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday invited devotees and tourists to visit the Shri Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, located in Rudraprayag district, as part of the Winter Pilgrimage.
In a post on X, CM Dhami described the temple as the winter seat of Baba Kedarnath and an important centre of faith, devotion, and tradition. He said that during the winter months, when the doors of the Kedarnath shrine are closed due to heavy snowfall, all worship and rituals of Baba Kedarnath’s Panchmukhi Utsav idol are performed at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.
“During the winter season, when the doors of Baba Kedarnath close, the worship and rituals of Baba’s Panchmukhi Utsav idol are duly performed in this very temple. Devotees visiting Uttarakhand during winter should make it a point to visit this sacred place,” the Chief Minister said.
Earlier, CM Dhami highlighted the importance of the upcoming Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar in 2027, calling it a major opportunity for the state. According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he offered prayers at the Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple in Kankhal, Haridwar, and also visited the Siddhpeeth Hanumangarhi Temple.
At the Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple, the Chief Minister performed Dugdha Abhishek and prayed for the development and prosperity of Uttarakhand, as well as for the successful and grand organisation of the 2027 Kumbh Mela.
“The Kumbh Mela and the Kumbh city of Haridwar hold immense importance not only in India but across the world. The state government is taking concrete steps to ensure the Kumbh Mela is organised in a divine and grand manner,” CM Dhami said, as quoted by the CMO.
He added that arrangements are being made to expand the Kumbh Mela area and ensure smooth movement, security, and convenience for devotees, so that pilgrims from across the country and the world return with a memorable experience.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to saints, seers, and local residents for their blessings and support, and appealed for continued cooperation to ensure the successful organisation of the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
