Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), December 10:
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a Janta Darshan on Wednesday at the Gorakhnath Temple premises, where he met residents from various parts of the district and took note of their concerns. During the outreach event, he reviewed written applications submitted by citizens, assured timely action, and encouraged people to remain involved in local development initiatives. CM Yogi also interacted affectionately with children who attended the programme.

A day earlier, on Tuesday, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new auditorium named after India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, at UP Sainik School in Gorakhpur. He also unveiled a statue of the late General, who, along with his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others, tragically died in a Mi-17 helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, on December 8, 2021.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony, CM Yogi said, “We are filled with immense pride and honour as we associate General Bipin Rawat’s name with the Sainik School on his fourth death anniversary. This day will be commemorated annually to inspire cadets and instill strong nationalist values in them.”

General Rawat, a decorated officer with honours including PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, and ADC, had also served as the General Officer Commanding of the 19 Infantry Division in 2012.

CM Yogi paid tribute to General Rawat in a post on X, writing, “On the fourth death anniversary of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, ‘Padma Vibhushan’ General Bipin Rawat ji, his statue was unveiled today at Sainik School, Gorakhpur. Tributes were paid to him on this solemn occasion.”

He added that, in the presence of Assam Rifles Director General Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera and General Bipin Rawat Foundation Chairman Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) RKS Bhadauria, the General Bipin Rawat Auditorium was also inaugurated.
“We sleep peacefully because our soldiers guard our borders; every Indian must hold deep respect for them. Humble tribute to General Bipin Rawat ji,” he posted.
