The Aryavarth ExpressHapur (Uttar Pradesh):
Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with the illegal possession of a large quantity of explosive materials, including around 200 kg of guncotton powder and nearly 2,000 explosive candles, officials said.

The recovery was made during a house search conducted in Fatehpur village under the jurisdiction of Babugarh police station on the intervening night of Monday. In addition to the guncotton powder and explosive candles, police also seized equipment used in the manufacture of firecrackers. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other suspects linked to the case.

Hapur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Varun Mishra said, “During a search of a house in Fatehpur village under Babugarh police station, police recovered approximately 200 kg of guncotton powder, about 2,000 candles made from explosive material, and other equipment used for making firecrackers.”

He added that one accused, identified as Nadeem, son of Rafeeq and a resident of Ghaziabad, has been taken into custody. “Search operations are ongoing to trace his accomplices, and legal proceedings have been initiated,” the DSP said.

In a separate incident, Uttar Pradesh Police have launched a manhunt for a retired railway employee from Jhansi accused of burning a woman to death. According to police, the accused was allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship with the victim, whom he reportedly considered his third wife.

The case came to light after the Police Response Vehicle (PRV) control room received information raising suspicion over the delivery of a large container. A team from Kotwali Police Station was dispatched to the location, where preliminary investigation revealed burnt bone fragments and charcoal-like material inside the container, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) City Preeti Singh said.

A forensic team was called to examine the evidence. Police also found a woman, identified as Geeta, at the residence where the container was recovered. During questioning, she told police that her husband, Ram Singh, a retired railway employee, was involved in an extramarital affair and had allegedly killed the woman, whom he treated as his third wife.

Further investigation into the Jhansi case is ongoing.
