The Aryavarth Express New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested two women, including a housemaid, for allegedly orchestrating a fake Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at her employer’s residence in New Friends Colony. The arrests were made within 24 hours by officials from the local police station.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Hemant Tiwari, the incident occurred on February 11 when three individuals dressed in police uniforms forcibly entered the home of 86-year-old retired architect RC Sabharwal, posing as ED officials.
Based on the victim’s complaint, an FIR (No. 66/2026) was registered on February 24 at PS New Friends Colony under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police said the accused allegedly intimidated family members, seized mobile phones, and conducted a staged search of the premises. The suspects reportedly fled with ₹3–4 lakh in cash and seven luxury watches after being interrupted by the victim’s grandson.
Investigators reviewed more than 350 CCTV camera feeds, tracing the suspects’ movements from New Friends Colony through Sarai Kale Khan and across the Ghazipur border to Sector 4, Vaishali in Ghaziabad. Using vehicle registration details, mobile tower dump data, and IMEI tracking, police identified phone numbers active at both the crime scene and the Vaishali parking location.
The technical analysis led officers to the residence of Pooja Rajput. Local verification further revealed that the complainant’s maid, Rekha Devi, frequently visited the same address, indicating possible insider involvement.
During a raid conducted on February 25, police recovered a Dy Commandant (ITBP) uniform, a wireless set box, a fake identity card, seven stolen luxury watches, and jewellery.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rekha Devi (40), the victim’s housemaid, and Pooja Rajput (45), her sister-in-law and alleged main conspirator.
Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects — Prakash, a serving ITBP constable; Manish; and Updesh Singh Thapa, a retired Army personnel. The Baleno car allegedly used in the crime is registered in Thapa’s name.
Further investigation is underway.
