Mumbai (Maharashtra): The trailer of The Great Shamsuddin Family, an upcoming comedy-drama featuring a powerhouse ensemble cast—Kritika Kamra, Purab Kohli, Farida Jalal, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Juhi Babbar, Sheeba Chaddha and Dolly Ahluwalia—was unveiled on Tuesday ahead of its OTT release.
Set over the course of one chaotic day in Delhi, the series follows Bani Ahmed (played by Kritika Kamra), a writer racing against a crucial 12-hour deadline. Her workday, however, is thrown off track when a flood of mothers, aunts, cousins and old flames storm into her home, each with their own crisis.
What begins as a focused sprint turns into a whirlwind of secrets, emotional showdowns, generational clashes and interfaith complexities—all forcing Bani to confront what she truly wants from life. By sunset, she must choose between pursuing her dreams abroad or staying with the family that overwhelms and loves her in equal measure.

Speaking about her character, Kritika Kamra said,
“Now that the trailer is out, I’m excited for viewers to finally meet Bani. She’s the quintessential elder daughter—dependable, responsible and constantly putting herself last. This role let me explore her strength, vulnerability, wit and frustration all at once. I can’t wait for audiences to get swept up in the storm she’s trying to outrun.”
Purab Kohli described the show as a reflection of every Indian household.
“This film feels like a mirror held up to every Indian family—the noise, the chaos, the arguments, the affection. Acting in it was a joy because it throws you straight into the heart of a loud, loving middle-income family where love somehow rises above all the madness,” he said.
Shreya Dhanwanthary, who plays the impulsive younger sister, shared,
“The Great Shamsuddin Family beautifully balances heart, humour and everyday madness. This is my first time doing comedy after many intense roles, and working with this cast felt like being part of one chaotic, affectionate family.”
Directed by Anusha Rizvi, The Great Shamsuddin Family is set to premiere on JioHotstar on December 12.
