The Aryavarth Express:
Vijayawada: City police have arrested three individuals in connection with an online radicalisation and unlawful activities case. The accused—Md Rahamutullah Sharif, Md Danish, and Mirza Sohail—were taken into custody following a detailed investigation.
According to officials, the case has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at II Town Police Station under the NTR Commissionerate.
Police said the accused were running organised online groups and sharing extremist content aimed at influencing and recruiting vulnerable individuals. Investigations revealed that they were also in contact with foreign-based individuals who allegedly encouraged activities harmful to the country’s sovereignty, unity, and security.
Authorities found that the group circulated audio messages, posts, and images promoting extremist ideologies, disrespecting national symbols, and attempting to incite division and hostility. Preliminary findings suggest the operation may be part of a larger network with links beyond the local level.
During coordinated raids at multiple locations, police seized mobile phones and other electronic devices. These materials are currently undergoing forensic analysis to determine the full scope of the operation.
All three accused have been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigations are underway to identify additional suspects and uncover the broader network.
Police have reiterated that any threats to national security will be dealt with strictly under the law. Citizens, especially youth, have been advised to remain cautious about the content they engage with online, while parents are urged to monitor their children’s digital activities.
