The Aryavarth Express:
New Delhi, April 2: The South-West District Police in Delhi have busted an illegal LPG storage and refilling racket operating from a vacant plot in Palam Village, arresting three individuals involved in the operation.
The accused have been identified as Anaar Singh, a driver from Jai Vihar Phase-1 in Najafgarh; Satyaveer, a delivery boy from Tamil Enclave in Dabri; and Vikas Kumar, an assistant delivery boy from Raj Nagar-II, Palam.
According to police officials, the operation was carried out on March 28 following a tip-off received during routine patrolling. Acting on the information, a police team reached a vacant plot in Adarsh Gali, Palam Village, where they found a tempo parked with its rear open and several LPG cylinders stored both inside the vehicle and on the premises.
During inspection, the team discovered that gas was being illegally transferred from one cylinder to another using nozzles and a weighing machine, without any safety precautions. A total of 45 Bharat Gas domestic cylinders were recovered from the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Amit Goel said that the accused were unable to produce any valid licence or permission for storing or refilling LPG cylinders. During questioning, they admitted that the plot had been rented for illegal storage and that the gas refilling was being done for profit.
Initial investigation also revealed that the activity was allegedly linked to staff associated with Blue Flame Gas Service in Janakpuri.
Officials from the SDM office in Dwarka, along with representatives from BPCL and the Food Safety Department, inspected the site and confirmed the illegal operation.
Police have registered a case under the Essential Commodities Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). All seized items, including the cylinders, gas transfer nozzles, weighing machine, and the vehicle, have been taken into custody.
Further investigation is currently underway.
