New Delhi – In the wake of India’s decisive military operation targeting terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan, family members of those killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack expressed gratitude and relief, calling the strike a fitting tribute to the victims.
Operation Sindoor, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, marked India’s deepest strike inside Pakistan since the 1971 war. The operation targeted terrorist camps operated by groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), believed to be behind a string of attacks on Indian soil, including the one in Pahalgam that killed 26 people—many of them tourists from Maharashtra.
Shubham Dwivedi, a 31-year-old businessman from Kanpur, was among those killed. His wife, overcome with emotion, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the military action.
“I want to thank PM Modi for taking this strong step. My entire family had faith in him, and he has upheld that faith. This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever he is, he will be at peace today,” she said.
Shubham’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, echoed her sentiments, praising the Indian Army and the government for their response.
“I salute the Indian Army and thank Prime Minister Modi for listening to the cries of the people. Our entire family feels lighter after hearing this news,” he said.
Another family member, Manoj Dwivedi, added that justice had finally been delivered.
“Since April 22, we were waiting for a response. We were confident PM Modi would act. The tribute paid today by the Army is the justice we were waiting for,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana visited the Dwivedi family in Kanpur to pay his respects.
“We lost a young life. The entire family is grieving. But the response from our forces—destroying terror hideouts—is commendable. PM Modi, along with the home and defence ministers, personally monitored the situation. We can’t thank our security forces enough,” he said.
Pragati Jagdale, wife of Santosh Jagdale, another victim of the attack, also expressed her gratitude.
“Modi ji has shown Pakistan that we won’t stay silent. With Operation Sindoor, I believe terrorism will be rooted out,” she said.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Operation Sindoor was a “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” response.
“No Pakistani military installations were targeted. The operation specifically aimed at eliminating key terrorist operatives and dismantling infrastructure used to orchestrate attacks in India,” the official statement read.
Sources confirmed that all nine intended targets were hit successfully, and the strike was closely monitored by PM Modi throughout the night.
