Apple’s iPhone Production in India Reaches $14 Billion

Apple has reportedly produced iPhones worth $14 billion in India during fiscal 2024, marking a significant shift in its manufacturing strategy away from China.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): According to a recent report by Bloomberg News, Apple Inc. has achieved a major milestone in diversifying its manufacturing base by assembling iPhones valued at $14 billion in India for the fiscal year 2024. This development indicates that approximately 14% of Apple’s flagship phones, or one out of every seven, are now being manufactured in India.

The report details that Foxconn is responsible for nearly 67% of these India-produced iPhones, while Pegatron Corp accounts for about 17%. The remaining production is handled by Wistron Corp’s facility in Karnataka, which was acquired by the Tata Group last year.

Amid growing geopolitical tensions between Beijing and Washington, Apple is progressively reducing its manufacturing reliance on China, although it remains the largest global hub for iPhone production. This shift aligns with Apple’s strategy to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions by diversifying its production locations.

Further, Reuters has recently disclosed that Pegatron is negotiating to transfer control of its sole iPhone manufacturing site near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to the Tata Group. This site is part of a broader expansion plan that includes a new factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, where Pegatron is expected to become a joint venture partner with Tata.
